How to Donate in CharlotteKnowing how to donate is the first step toward helping the 9,000 North Carolina residents who are hospitalized for emergency dialysis and transplants each year, a service that costs nearly $233 million. your generous donation of used clothes and household items to National Kidney Services (NKS) help support health screening programs, public awareness about kidney disease, patient advocacy programs, research, and much more.

Are you wondering how to donate in Charlotte and the surrounding areas? Just follow the steps below to make a stress-free contribution to NKS:

  • Call or fill out our online form to add your name to our rotational donation pick up schedule. You’ll receive a call from NKS every four to six weeks inquiring if you have any donations ready for pick up.
  • Gather donations from your home or office. NKS accepts used men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, dresses, small appliances, electrical items, decorative items, books, toys, large and small furniture, and much more.
  • You’ll receive a reminder call the day before the NKS donation pick up trucks are scheduled to collect your donations. Please bag or box all donations and label them with “NKS.”
  • Put your charity donations outside, preferably near the mailbox or someplace where they will be easily visible from the road. You may also put donations in a garage or carport, but please be advised that NKS drivers will not enter your home or pick up any unlabeled donations.
  • Our professional, courteous drivers will leave a tax receipt for you, as all donations to NKS are tax deductible.*

If you’re wondering about how to donate by making a donation drop off in the Charlotte area, simply take your donation to any of seven local Value Village locations in Charlotte, Gastonia, Kannapolis, and Mooresville. Through our Value Village Partnership Program, Value Village will gladly accept donations on our behalf and provide you with a tax receipt.
